Chemically synthesizing a ballet dancer!

No no, it is not about how to become a ballet dancer. If you have the right chemicals and correctly follow the steps, you can have a ballet dancer for yourself. You read it right “chemicals”. Although this ballet dancer would be nano in size. 2 nanometers to be precise 😉

Do you think the one on the right is a male ballet dancer? 🙂

Ten years ago, organic chemists in US published a method to create a plethora of nano molecules that resemble humans, in other words anthropomorphic molecules aptly called NanoPutians!

a series of monomeric, dimeric, and polymeric anthropomorphic molecules have been synthesized. These anthropomorphic entities are dubbed NanoPutians, as a class. Furthermore, they are assigned common names based on their individual anthropomorphic designs. These represent the ultimate in anthropomorphic design miniaturization.

the anthropomorphic molecules here are dubbed, as a class, NanoPutians, following the lead of the Lilliputians in Jonathan Swift’s classic, Gulliver’s Travels.
