Message from Bhagavata Mela Natya Nataka Samgam
Pranaams & Season’s Greetings.
With great pleasure, we attach our Evite for the 74th Year Bhagavata Mela Nataka Mahotsav, scheduled to be held on and from the 23rd May, 2014.
The ritualistic Bhagavata Mela tradition, a Telugu Heritage nurtured in Tamil country, richly deserves a vast support from the art-world. Came into being as a result of Bhakti movement about 400 years ago, it is not far different from the Kuchipudi Bhagavata Mela and is considered in par with the Saint Thygaraja festival of Thriruvayyaru.
The Bhagavata Mela Nataka Mahotsav – 2014 features not only Bhagavata Mela natakams but many fitting events akin to Bhagavata Mela also.
For more information, please visit our web site <<www.bhagavatamela.org>>.
The splendour, exuberance and purity of purpose of this tradition are to be witnessed at Melattur to believe. Preserved in pristine purity as a true temple-art with no commercial interests, this great theatre-art, considered as the only surviving link in Tamil Nadu today that connects us to the ancient Sanskrit theatre, struggles for survival not to mention the pernicious odds and hardship that are in our way, and the lack of the deserving support and encouragement to it from the art-world, public and mass media.
As you have always been panegyrizing the greatness and events of music, dance and drama, we very humbly request you to accentuate the glory and image of Bhagavata Mela through your most popular website and, thus help the tradition rise above its accursed state. We do hope that you will be kind enough in considering our appeal
We would also request your travel plan to Melattur and the facilities you need to help us make further arrangements.
Looking forward to the pleasure of paying host to you at Melattur soon,
Very religiously yours,
President & Chairman
