People changing at the helm, a routine thing now? Hmmmm…
Menon will now go back to his parent cadre as a financial officer for the railways.
His three-year tenure at Kalakshetra was extendable up to five years, but the railways extended it only by a year. Menon could have sought to stay for another year, but he chose not to. He would have completed four years this month-end. Given his experience, he was eligible for a more senior position.
“I was shocked to know that he is deputy director when he has a higher rank than that. In the government he would be at the joint secretary level,” said former chief election commissioner N Gopalaswami who was appointed as Kalakshetra chairman in October. “He did tell me about the problems here. He is a connoisseur of music and dance,” Gopalaswami said.
The ministry would soon advertise for a person for the deputy director post. When contacted, Menon refused to comment.
